LAB EXPERIMENTS
Depending on your curriculum needs and age groups, we have diverse labs to choose from. The following are the most popular labs:
-
Phylum Lab:
Get your feet wet and go on a collecting trip to capture live critters to examine in the lab. Learn and participate in a hands-on lab focusing on phyla characteristics with artifacts, visuals, microscopes, and live animals you have collected. (all locations)
-
Squid Dissection:
This interactive lab allows students to "get down and dirty" by examining and dissecting this incredible invertebrate's physical adaptations. (all locations)
-
Cassiopeia Lab:
How does an upsidedown jellyfish (Cassiopeia xanthus) adapt to variable environmental conditions? This lab focuses on "adaptations" by introducing the cassiopeia to various changes to its environment. Students will record, chart, and monitor respiration and dissolved O2. (Florida Keys)
-
Fisheries Lab:
This Lab focuses on sustainable fisheries. Students learn about the struggle of man with nature's creatures and the challenges of the precarious balance of the world. Get hands-on with live animals, props, artifacts, and capturing demonstations. Students also try their luck at collecting and capturing critters. (Florida Keys & Mexico)
