SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrive in Costa Rica and transfer to Selva Verde. Introduction to La Selva Biological Station. Arrival. Enjoy an orientation to the lodge. After dinner go on a guided night hike. D

Day 2 Early morning birding and introduction to the birds of Selva Verde. After breakfast depart for La Selva Biological Station to learn about their research and hike in reserve. After lunch, half day ecology activity- Water Quality Monitoring. Visit with crocodilian biologists at Research Station. Dinner & evening visit to Tirimbina for Bat Education Program and mist netting. Look for caiman eye-shines with researchers. B, L, D

Day 3 After breakfast transfer to Cano Blanco to board boat for transfer to Tortuguero. Upon arrival, receive an orientation on The Caribbean Conservation Corporation Facilities and learn about their turtle research Dinner & late night beach patrol with researchers to participate in the turtle monitoring and research. B, L, D

Day 4 AM: Learn about the natural history of Tortuguero and go hiking through the park. Afternoon at leisure to relax or visit Tortuguero Village. Visit to the local school if they are in session. Early in the evening attend a workshop on the "Natural History of Tortuguero Turtles". Late night turtle patrol. B, L, D

Day 5 After a late breakfast, a canal tour of Tortuguero National Park. During the tour visit the Cano Palma Field Station for a lecture on current conservation and research projects at the station. Late afternoon Community Service Project - Beach clean up. Search for nocturnal animals. Late evening Turtle Patrol. B, L, D

Day 3 - Arenal Volcano After breakfast enjoy a boat ride on Sarapiqui. Depart for Arenal, stopping at Termales Del Bosque on the way for lunch. Spend the afternoon hiking through the volcano's rainforests and visit the hot springs. Dinner and volcano viewing at the Lodge. B, L, D

Day 4 - Punta Leona Early morning birding and wildlife hike at Arenal National Park. Depart For Central Pacific with lunch en route. Afternoon beach activities: orientation & safety workshops: kayaking, snorkeling, tide pool wading. Bio-Quest night scavenger hunt B, L, D

Day 5 - Carara Biological Reserve Tarcoles River boat trip and guided hike at Carara Biological Reserve. Order of the itinerary is subject to change based on tide schedule. Beach Patrol & bon fire. B, L, D

Day 6 - San Jose Morning snorkeling and sea kayaking, afternoon return to San Jose. Stay at Buena Vista Hotel or Similar. Late afternoon shopping & dinner. B, L, D

Day 7 - Depart Day Depart San Jose for USA am. B
